The biennial this year takes place place in the ancient cities of Murcia and Cartagena, Spain. Kicking off on October 9 and running for a period of 100 days, Manifesta 8 will be taking place in historical buildings, museums, unconventional spaces, archaeological sites and other suggestive settings.

Sling Shots and Cityscape Hangers at VITRA Design Museum

The Sling Shots and a full set of Cityscape Hangers have been selected for the upcoming exhibition:

Hidden Heroes: The Genius of Everyday Things
Aug 20 - Sep 19 2010

Vitra Design Museum
Buckminster Fuller Dome
Charles-Eames-Str. 1
D -79576 Weil am Rhein
Germany

This exhibition is devoted to the “heroes” of everyday life – things that we use on a daily basis, but to which we pay little attention. We know almost nothing about their history, although they influence our lives and have set many standards. We present these everyday heroes together with patent drawings by their inventors, with historical and contemporary advertisements and films, and also with design and art objects that have been inspired by them.

The book as a whole is a forward thinking and refreshing look at modern sustainable design and from recent reviews i have seen has been well recieved by the design world and critics alike.
